LKAPS 2022 YEAR-IN-REVIEW

WELCOME TO THE LKAPS 2022 YEAR-IN-REVIEW

2022 was a very successful year for LKAPS as we came out of our COVID isolation. The Social Committee produced several well-attended potlucks and continued our coffee tradition while adding our first bus trip to Idyllwild Pride. We had two free Pizza nights and several free bowling events. The LKAPS Roundtable celebrated its first anniversary and expanded from online to include weekly in-person discussion group meetings. Our Communications committee kept our website fresh and updated while disseminating the latest information on monkeypox through our Facebook page.

Our efforts were noticed in the greater community, as well. LKAPS Roundtable co-founder Luis Villanueva was recognized by POZ Magazine on their 2022 POZ 100 list. I was honored by Greater Palm Springs Pride as its 2022 Spirit of Stonewall Volunteer of the Year and by the Brothers of the Desert as one of their 2022 Legacy Honorees.

We are thankful to donors like the Richmond/Ermet Aid Foundation (REAF) who awarded LKAPS with a $5,000 grant during LGBT Pride weekend. A new grant in the amount of $1,000 was received from the Palm Springs Leather Order of the Desert. We continue to receive grants from PhRMA who funded our first bus trip this year.  And ongoing donations from volunteers, members, and the broader community sustain us. At the end of the year we have in excess of $30,000 in cash.
